Kevin Barrow (Former President, Former Treasurer)

kab4326@truman.edu

I am a senior physics and computer science major. SPS is my main on-campus activity, but during breaks I enjoy playing video games and learning to play the guitar. I hope to go to graduate school for physics. You may recognize me around campus by the bottle of Mountain Dew that I am always carrying.

Riley Dawkins (Former VP)

rbd4421@truman.edu

Hi! My name is Riley Dawkins and I’m the SPS Vice President. I’m a math and physics double major, and I’m also involved in the Residence Hall Association, Tau Kappa Epsilon, and the National Residence Hall Honorary. Some of my hobbies include playing the acoustic guitar and attempting to cook vegan food. One of my favorite memories from SPS would have to be the time that I attended the APS April conference with some other SPS members. It was a good time. Also, a fun fact about me is that I have segmental heterochromia!

Michael Palucho (Former Faculty Spy)

mp2864@truman.edu

I am a Pre-Engineering major here at Truman, currently a senior, but in my junior year for engineering and I plan to transfer to another university to complete my Electrical Engineering degree. My interests related to my major include technology and many different sports which are both deeply related to physics, so being part of SPS during my physics courses is a great benefit to explore the concepts behind my interests. I am also a previous SPS member when I first attended Truman in my sophomore year. My best memory during that time was seeing the physics demos and getting to know other students who were passionate about mathematics and physics. Fun fact about me is that I grew up in Los Angeles, California which has a major influence on many aspects of my personality and views involved with the culture there.

Jordan Shroyer

jes3177@truman.edu

Jordan graduated as a Physics major. She was also a member of Women in Physics. In her spare time, she loves playing the clarinet, reading, and playing cards.

Pujita Ravichander

pr4354@truman.edu

Pujita was vice president her senior year at Truman State University, working toward a BS in Physics with minors in Math, Astronomy, and Studio Art. She was additionally involved with Women in Physics (WiP) and Stargazers Astronomy Club. In her “free time” she likes to paint/sketch, hike, read, watch movies, and go stargazing.

Zoe Rechav

zsr1861@truman.edu

Zoe majors in physics while dabbling in Computer Science, Math, and German. As much as physically possible, she loves to be outside. Some of her favorite activities include running, backpacking, yoga, tennis, kayaking, swimming, and spray painting. She enjoys the many random facts and happenings of daily life, and she never tires of listening to new stories and trying new things.

Max Venker

mv1746@truman.edu

The first thing Max would like to do is say “Hello!”  Max loves learning in general, but he has always been best at math and science. He loves video games, D&D (He runs his own campaign here), and do other things with friends etc.

Dan Miller

dam2464@truman.edu

Some people may say that Vice President Dan Miller is a true nerd, and while they aren’t necessarily incorrect, they’re rather rude. While working towards his BS in physics and mathematics, he also enjoys video games, Game of Thrones, and Magic the Gathering. You’ll often find him procrastinating on his quantum mechanics homework while wearing an argyle sweater and khakis. After graduation, he plans to pursue a graduate degree in mechanical engineering.

Dustin Gansebom

dcg7835@truman.edu

Dustin Gansebom pursued (don’t follow, pursue) a BS in Chemistry and a BA in Physics. He plans to go to graduate school in Chemical Engineering. His current research interests are sulfate esters, functional materials, and catalysis. Dustin enjoys going to the gym, dabbles in cooking, and likes to go roller skating on Friday nights.

Jon Moore

jem4871@truman.edu

Jon is a fifth year physics and math double major. He’s the mathiest physics major we know. After graduation, he hopes to enroll in a PhD program in pure mathematics. He enjoys going roller skating with the math nerds.

Charlyn Ortmann

Charlyn (Charlie) Ortmann is finally in her last year as an undergraduate here at Truman State. She studies physics, and has conducted research on the following topics: cataclysmic variables, Gaia theory, and exoplanets. Currently, her research is in binary star systems, and she hopes to use her background in astronomy research to convince an astronomy or planetary science graduate program to accept her, and maybe one day give her a Ph.D. She also hopes to one day inspire young women to strive for a higher education, as well as promote diversity, within the fields of STEM. During her free time, she enjoys playing the clarinet and ukulele, as well as biking and long distance running.
